Reverting to old Blogger layout

A quick site update: I am reverting back to the old Blogger layout. As much as I love the Dynamic templates, I've noticed that version that I liked (Magazine) made my posts look a lot shorter than they really were. I guess there is a way for me to fix this on my own but I'm a bit hesitant to tinker with the HTML. (Also, HTML and CSS editing makes me want to punch my keyboard when I can't make shit to work the way I want. And my keyboard is expensive.)

I've also been messing around with the old templates again for another blog that I'm setting up and I miss having more control over the layout of widgets, the template colors, header images, and all that crap. So I'm going to slowly tweak and customize my layout again until I get bored with it.

Other than that, no new art to show yet. Lot's of work to finish and I'm finally getting around to finishing my commissions which have been pending for forever.

Diets, cats, and Sherlock

A quick art dump before I get distracted and completely forget to post these: I've been playing around with Sketchbook Pro lately and I've come to enjoy using it as a doodling app much better than Photoshop. I like the ease and natural feel to the preset brushes and how easy it is to create line weight with the custom inking brush I made. So here's a bunch of crap I came up with:

How I feel every morning.
Intentionally unfinished sketch of what wasn't supposed to be Black Cat.
I wanted to see if I still suck at drawing likenesses. Apparently, I do.

Doodle of the Day: Sushi Cat

I haven't been posting on this blog for a while so I'm a little surprised to how my average pageviews per day has gone up since I last checked. Not that it's much, but it's nice to know people are still visiting the site. I've been busy, as usual, with work, but I thought it's about time I started drawing for myself again. Here's something I drew just for fun. It's based on my cat, Sushi, who wasn't exactly the best behaved model (he was biting my arm as I drew this). Hopefully this post will get the ball rolling and kick me back to drawing and posting more art.

Going Analog: Art Markers

I've been struggling with a really bad cough for these past two weeks (among other problems) and I haven't had much time and energy to update this blog as much as I'd like. Something I really wanted to share, though, is how I recently fell in love with art markers. It was during the storm Pedring, when my whole neighborhood had a power outage that lasted the whole day. If I stayed in my apartment, I would have either died from heat (no power means no fans, and the rain was too strong to keep the windows open) or boredom.

Since all my tech was running out of battery life, I had to look for entertainment elsewhere. I remembered that Fully Booked downstairs (I live on top of a mall. Convenient, yes?) stocked some art markers, so I went to see how much they were. The marker sets that I really wanted were way too expensive for me at the time, but I did find a set of markers that was in my budget.

Doodle of the Day: Clams look like...

Here's a sketch I made that was inspired by my recent trip to Coron. It's based on a snorkeling trip where I saw some giant clams nested in rocks and surrounded by corals. IRL, though, I was wearing a life vest, had no flippers, and was safely swimming on the surface of the water.

I'm thinking of going back to this sketch and painting it if I have enough time in the future as I'd love to add in more detail and color to the corals and clam itself.
